Income and Daily P&L: the cash view
Why do my months differ between Income and Performance?
Video coming soon
In this lesson
- Income counts a premium in the month the cash arrives. That is the cash view. Performance counts the premium once the option is closed, expired or assigned.
- So the same premium can show up in two different months. Both pages are right. Income answers what came in, and Performance answers what you earned.
- Each toggle on the Income page adds one source of income. There are toggles for dividends, interest, option premiums and realized P&L. You can show the bars monthly, quarterly or yearly.
The example: four Keurig calls in May and June 2026
In May 2026 you sell four Keurig calls for $180. The cash comes in during May, so Income shows the $180 in May.
In June the calls are assigned. That ends them, and Performance books the premium in June. It is the same money in a different month.
On June 18, 2026, the day of the assignment, Daily P&L shows where the amount came from. Here it is the price gain from selling the 400 Keurig shares, $866, which is €752.59.
